Beatriz Herrera Campo

Beatriz is a geographer with an M.Sc. in Crop Protection, working on agricultural issues. She completed her professional degree in Geography at the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia, and her master’s at the University of Göttingen, Germany.

Her research experience has focused on the distribution and prediction of invasive species in the tropics, while her main contributions as a young researcher have been in the field of Ecological Niche Modelling and spatial analysis of cassava pests and diseases. Throughout her research experience, she has acquired and developed research abilities and good scientific practices which are complemented by her artistic sense. During her master studies, she developed an increasing interest in entomological and botanical illustration, while realizing the potential of scientific illustration and data visualization in research and their need in science communication.

She would love to continue developing her academic career and further enhance her visualization skills.
